Biz Tip of The Day: Especially for Entrepreneurs

Biz tip of the day: Especially for the people who will bring back prosperity to our country – this is for all of you entrepreneurs out there:
Only in America would a guy like me, from humble beginnings and without a high school diploma become successful. America gave me a chance to life the life I want and work to make my dreams come true. We should never take our freedoms for granted, and we should seize every opportunity presented to us.
- Dave Thomas

Biz Tip of The Day: Capital Isn't That Important in Business

Biz tip of the day: Harvey Firestone advised, “Capital isn't that important in business. Experience isn't that important. You can get both of these things. What is important is ideas.”

Biz Tip of The Day: Each Person Has a Literature Inside Them

Biz tip of the day: Each person has a literature inside them. But when people lose language, when they have to experiment with putting their thoughts together on the spot - that's what I love most. That's where character lives:  Anna Deavere Smith

Sharing an Interesting Quote by Anita Roddick About Livelihood

Sharing an interesting quote: My goal was livelihood. We don’t use that word often enough. If I could give one piece of advice to anyone it’s don’t obsess with this notion that you have to turn everything you do into a business, because that ends up being a small version of a large company. But if you can create an honorable livelihood, where you take your skills and use them and you earn a living from it, it gives you a sense of freedom and allows you to balance your life the way you want.

Biz Tip of The Day: Travel is a Great Educator

Biz tip of the day: Travel is a great educator. It is amazing how often you will be able to draw from your travel experiences, the people you met, the places you visited and from seeing things out of the ordinary in your own world. Travel as much as you can to add to your knowledge base:

I’ve always said that travel is the best university; getting from one place to another means more than physical movement. It also entails change, challenge, new ideas and inspirations….I had this idea of making little products like shampoo and so forth using ingredients I had found when I traveled.
Anita Roddick
She also said:

Successful entrepreneurs may hate hierarchies and structures and try to destroy them. They may garner the disapproval of MBAs for their creativity and wildness. But they have antennae in their heads. When they walk down the street anywhere in the world, they have their antennae out, evaluating how what they see can relate back to what they are doing. It might be packaging, a word, a poem, or even something in a completely different business.

Biz Tip of The Day: A Business Tip From Dave Thomas

Biz tip of the day: A business tip from Dave Thomas, is “What do you need to start a business? Three simple things: know your product better than anyone. Know your customer, and have a burning desire to succeed.” Wendy's, the restaurant franchise is a huge success, founded by Dave Thomas. Imagine if Dave Thomas and other successful entrepreneurs had never written books about their struggles, failures and successes for the rest of us to learn from. Write your own book and use it as a sales tool to promote yourself and your business.

Biz Tip of The Day: Developing a New Skill or Habit Takes Practice

Biz tip of the day: Developing a new skill or habit takes practice. Changing an old one takes even more practice, planning and thought. First, write down what you would like your behavior to be. Spell it out, “I will call on three clients before 11:00 Am five days a week.” You must stay focused and push yourself to accomplish it until it becomes easier and easier to do.

Should you fail one day, do not be deterred from getting back on track the following days. Take yourself through the steps mentally of setting up the appointments and following through. After it becomes doable for you, you may even add more clients into the equation. Think of yourself as the one who can see more outside clients than anyone else. This is commendable, but simultaneously you must work on having a good success rate with the clients. It is not overwhelming when you incrementally add good working habits to your daily routine instead of trying to accomplish them all at once.

It is the essence of genius to make use of the simplest ideas: Charles Peguy

Biz Tip of The Day: Sit, Stand, and Posture for Success

Biz tip of the day:

Sit, stand, and posture for success. Looking and acting like a leader helps you become an  effective leader. Psychologists have proved that practicing positive postures does improve how you perceive yourself as well as how other perceive you. Smiling, for example, instead of frowning changes your outlook and attitude and that of others, too. Try a simple exercise such as smiling at a stranger while out shopping and you will almost always get a smile back.

Before a meeting, presentation, or a speech it is good to walk around with arms up; sit at with your feet up on a desk; stand on your tiptoes with your arms in the air. Never make yourself small by hunching over notes just prior to any of the events mentioned.

In a meeting always sit or stand up straight. When sitting lean forward with hands up to make a point. It is better not to cross your legs. Rest your arms on the chair arms if available and you are more likely not to cross your arms.

Now, go out there and use your power poses to be a more effective leader.

Biz Tip of The Day: Strike Out Against All Odds with Passion

Biz tip of the day: Strike out against all odds with passion -- your own passion. If you fail the first time, learn and try again. It is rare that the greatest successes among us ever succeeded the first time they dared to follow their bliss.
A few years ago I visited a gold mine in Nevada run by two business executive from San Diego who gave up the corporate grind of working for someone else and struck out to pursue their life-long dream of gold mining. What a risk they put their wives and children through – they had to succeed and they did.

Biz Tip of The Day: Time is Your Most Important Resource

Biz tip of the day:Time is your most important resource. You can do so much in ten minutes. Ten minutes, once gone, are gone for good. Ten minutes are not just one-sixth of your hourly pay. Ten minutes are a piece of yourself. Divide your life into ten-minute units and sacrifice as few of them as possible in meaningless activity.
Ingvar Kamprad
In my new book “Buzz Your Business and Be The Best” an entire chapter is devoted to time-savers. There may be some things you haven't thought of before. Biz Tip of The Day: Don't Dwell on the Negative: Take it From a Pro

Biz tip of the day: Don't dwell on the negative: Take it From a Pro

The reason I never lost confidence is because I never believed that the consequences of losing were as bad as some other people might have thought, you know? “Oh my goodness, I’ve lost my money!” or what have you. I mean, I just wasn’t motivated along those lines. And I was very, very, very sure that what we were doing was extremely important and was destined to be successful. So that’s the definition I think of an insane person, or a zealot. And most entrepreneurs, I think you would find, have that sort of green wire laid in there just a little bit cross-wise. And they begin to get focused on something, and they believe in the idea or themselves far beyond what they probably should.

Fred Smith, Founder of FedEx

How do you like that kind of spirit for getting a totally untried concept off the ground with great success? American ingenuity is not dead and it is what will bring back economic prosperity to our country. It could be your turn. Go ahead and go for it!

Biz Tip of The Day: There are Some Women Who Seem to be Born Without Fear

Biz tip of the day: There are some women who seem to be born without fear:

There are some women who seem to be born without fear, just as there are people who are born without the ability to feel pain. ... Providence appears to protect such women, maybe out of astonishment.” This is a quote from Margaret Atwood, an award-winning poet, novelist and author of short stories.

Women are making their mark in the business world today, more than ever. Remember, there are no limits to your success. Write about your trials, struggles, and successes to help others and to make yourself and your business more known. Write a book to increase your bottom line. It will lead you to to speaking engagements, TV and radio interviews and appearances. All of this is free advertising; you may even be paid for speaking engagements and other appearances.
