In
each new decade of our lives we should be able to think about the
previous one and surmise, “If I only knew then what I know now.”
When we can do this it is proof of our insight, continued maturity
and education. Think of yourself as a student in your own profession.
When we make conscious attempts to learn more it inevitably leads to
prosperity. Having a natural curiosity about things we see and what
people think is part of what made Sam Walton and Henry Ford excel.
Sam Walton is the founder of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Henry Ford is
the founder of Ford Motor Company. Both men understood and practiced
natural curiosity by learning from the people who actually did the
work for them, as well as from others outside their companies. They
were humble enough to learn from others. We each need to strive to be
more like these two men and not to be the kind of business person who
is an egotistical know-it-all who never gets any place, except within
their own mind.
